The 2021 SpringMill Cup is complete and for another year, the trophy stays in the only home it has ever known, the Fort Mill Pro Shop.

The SpringMill Cup is a Ryder Cup style match against our friends from Springfield.  Because of logistics and time, we can only have a 40 vs 40 match so I’m sure some of you may not be aware that it even happened.

We have been playing this event since 2016 and this year was the 6th installment.  To date, the Fort Mill Team is 6-0 in this event.  The event alternates courses and this year we played at Fort Mill.  It's been played three times at both courses now.  Dave Sturick was captain for the first four years while Jackson Windell led last year's Fort Mill team to victory.  This year, Rick Johnson took over the reins and brought home another Fort Mill win.

We had a pretty big win this year but that’s golf sometimes.  We promise the guys at Fort Mill have nothing but respect for the guys at Springfield. Sometimes golf is golf and things just snowball.  We know the final score looks lopsided collectively, but if you ask everyone individually, we think all the matches were hard fought.

In each foursome, there were three matches going on at the same time.  There were two singles matches and a team match.  Each match was worth three points: one for the front nine, one for the back nine and one for the overall.  So, there were nine points available in every foursome !!

Thank you to both Aaron Black and David Gies for your support of this event.  And thank you to the Springfield captain from the other side – Tim McGuirk.  Although disappointed, he was class the whole weekend.
