Well, we had our first event and as usual, a great success !!  I’m not going to go much into the golf.  The attachments are pretty self-explanatory.  A few highlights are these.  Jason Steiner shoots 67 gross and over 44 points giving back 2.8 strokes from the natural points he had.  He continues to beat out brains out (what little we have) and be the best player at our club.  Bob Pitzer and David Fairley both beat their age with their natural score.  Bob, as we know, has battled back from serious life threatening things and continues to be more than impressive.  And Finally, Ken Cobbler spun one back on 15 into the hole for an eagle and a skat.  Great hole, great shot !!!

One more thing before I get to what I want to say.  Our great friend Tom Rea Senior has been dealing with liver issues for a few years now.  He was just recently put on the waiting list for a transplant.  He’s been waiting for this for a while.  All of our thoughts and prayers should go to “T. Rea” as he continues this fight.   We are happy there is a light at the end of this tunnel now and hope to see him out there with us as soon as he can.  I have always said, every time I play with him, I always hear something I never heard before.  I need more T-Rea-ism’s in my life.  Get well my friend !!!

But Saturday belonged to Dave Wyatt !!! As we all know what Dave and his family have been through recently, it was just great to get our friend back out there with us.  I had the opportunity to play and ride with DW Saturday and I cherish that opportunity.  Dave has been my great friend for more than 20 years.  We don’t need to rehash everything but suffice it to say, he went with a heavy heart but the love shown to him by all of you made his day !!  Dave finished 3rd in the first flight struggling with a 43 on the front.  I don’t know how he did even that good.  Every group that saw him gave him a huge and well deserved hug.  He told me in the cart the day was harder than he thought it was going to be.  I told him that there were finger prints on his back from all the hugs. On the back nine, he settled down and played golf as he is capable.  He finished strong though with 34 on the back and a closing birdie on 18 !!! We heard his traditional BOOM as the ball hit the bottom of the cup !! It’s the way it was supposed to be !!!

Saturday would have been tough under the circumstances mentioned above but to add to that, this was his last weekend working at the golf course and last day playing as a member of Fort Mill Golf Club. Dave and his wife Darlene have been planning a move out to the coast near Morehead City and in a little more than a week, will be gone.  Even if you don’t know Dave Wyatt, you owe him a debt of gratitude as a member of the FMMGA and the Fort Mill Golf Club.  DW has been a major catalyst for all things FMMGA.  He is Mr. Saturday Morning Dogfight and he is directly responsible for a lot of peoples anguish because of him setting pins on Saturday’s and Sundays.  He has been cursed more than once !!!  Most importantly, he has been our friend !!  His sense of humor, his charm and his determination have been trademarks of him and I know there are going to be so many who miss the man who Dave Wyatt is !!! He swears he’ll be back to play with us.  I hope he comes back for the Jamison Cup because that tournament, as much as any, has his finger prints all over it.  I know I will miss him terribly but I also know I have a place I can go visit on the coast.  There is a silver lining !!  Dave and Darlene, God Bless and keep you on this next adventure of your life.  PLEASE – don’t be a stranger !!!

Guys, our next event is the always fun 4-club.  We will notify you as to when signups will start !!!
