We announced the Saturday pairings for the Jamison Cup Wednesday night at Wing King.
We will re-shuffle based on Saturday results for Sunday's pairings, so below is just Saturday.
Please read everything below. I know it's a bit long but it has information that everyone who's playing needs to know.
Note we have assigned tees. Here's how this works. If you are eligible to play the golds or reds on a normal day (65 or older for the golds, 75 or older for the reds) we took your age + your handicap. If that sum equals to or exceeds 75, you play from the golds, 85 you play from the reds. That is ONLY for those who are eligible to play the golds or reds on a normal day. Note we froze everyone's handicaps last Sunday. So, if your handicap changed between then and now, we used Sunday's index.
As noted before, we are having an 8AM shotgun start both days. Please arrive at the course no later than 7:30AM. A shotgun start means you need to be at your assigned hole ready to tee off at 8AM. Your Saturday hole assignments will be on your cart Saturday morning.
The format has changed a bit. We are playing straight up match play for each match, no strokes. Everyone plays their own ball. Just play golf. We placed everyone in pods based on your handicap. All matches are played within your pod. We will play the same format for both rounds.
There will be three matches in each foursome...one point per nine and overall 18 for each individual match and one point per nine and overall for each team match (best ball). That's a total of 9-points per foursome. Again, no strokes. We tried to pair compatible skills together to make some good matches.
Given we had 70 players, that gave us a lone twosome. We have markers assigned to play with them both days. They will only play the individual matches - 1-point on both the front and back and 1-point for the overall, a total of 3 points. Note that there will be a different twosome in this format on Sunday.
Your entry fee will be automatically charged to your account by the pro shop. It includes:
- Cart fee both days
- Lunch both days in the Oak Room
- Range balls (pick up your code in the Pro Shop each morning)
- Small, but really cool tee gift
IF YOU HAVEN'T PAID YOUR FMMGA DUES, YOU NEED TO PAY THEM PRIOR TO PLAY. It's $40. You can either Venmo Craig Haase (@Craig-Haase-1), pay a board member before or Sat morning before play, or give the money to the Pro Shop. They'll get it to us. This is on top of the $90 tournament fee. In addition to the Jamison Cup, it allows you to play in all 2024 FMMGA events going forward, which is several.
If you have any questions, simply return this email or ask Chris Teachout or myself in person if you see either of us at the course.
Good luck. We have strong fields on both sides this year. Should be a kick, so have fun and play well.
For those on this email that are not playing in the tournament, come out and cheer us on. Who knows, if you find the right foursome, you may get to join us in shot or four.
The Jamison Cup is named after our old pro Carl Jamison. Carl has since gone to the great golf course in the sky but this tournament is a legacy to him.
This is a 2-day Rydar Cup format pitting young verses experience. Once registration closes, we determine where the age split takes place, typically around 56. Format changes each day with team and single matches. This has proven to be one of the fastest tournaments to fill up so register early!!
